Roy Campanella played baseball for the Negro Baseball League, his career began in 1937 at the age of 15. Originally from Philadelphia born to an African American mom and an Italian dad. His nickname on the field was Campy, his primary position was as a catcher. Roy played for the Negro Leagues, and in the winter he would often play in Cuba and Puerto Rico. He went from the Negro League to the minor league and eventually in 1948 he made it to the Major League Baseball.
