Dr. Patricia Era Bath, born in 1942 and died in 2019. She was an African American ophthalmologist, inventor, and an academic. Dr. Patricia was the inventor of laser cataract surgery. Her invention was called Lazerphaco Probe. She was also the first woman member of the Jules Stein Eye Institute, she lead a post-graduate training program in ophthalmology, and was the first woman to be elected to the honorary staff of the UCLA Medical Center.
